Samsung’s eagerly awaited Galaxy S27 Ultra is poised to unveil significant changes, notably a refreshed display technology after three years, alongside key camera and performance upgrades. The upcoming flagship smartphone is anticipated to feature the M16 OLED panel, according to industry reports.
New Display Technology for the Galaxy S27 Ultra
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to introduce a substantial display revision, marking the first major screen change for the Ultra series in three years, as highlighted by Forbes. This upgrade will see the device incorporate the recently unveiled M16 OLED panel. This move indicates Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the visual experience for users, providing a potential leap forward in screen quality and performance for its flagship model.
Key Camera Specifications Emerge for the Galaxy S27 Ultra
Detailed specifications for the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s camera system have begun to emerge, clarifying earlier conflicting reports. Initially, a rumour in late August suggested the device would feature a new telephoto camera offering 4x optical zoom and a 1/1.9″ type sensor. However, this was later vehemently denied.
A more recent and reliable report from Roland Quandt, as cited by GSMArena.com, indicates the Galaxy S27 Ultra will utilise a 50-megapixel (MP) telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a Sony sensor. This configuration is expected to be identical to the telephoto lens present in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
For its ultrawide camera, the S27 Ultra is also reported to feature a 50MP resolution, matching its predecessor. A significant change is expected for the selfie camera, which Quandt predicts will be a 16MP sensor equipped with autofocus, an upgrade from the S26 Ultra’s 12MP front-facing camera.
Processing Power and Regional Variations for the Galaxy S27 Ultra
Regarding its internal processing power, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is anticipated to be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset in certain global markets. However, GSMArena.com also reports rumours of the Exynos 2700 chipset being offered in other regions, indicating Samsung’s continued strategy of varying processor choices depending on the market.
