Romania is set to experience unseasonably warm temperatures throughout October, with forecasts indicating that values could reach as high as 28 degrees Celsius in the southern regions of the country towards the end of this week. The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) expects temperatures to remain above normal until early November, as reported by Digi24.
Warm Spell Continues Across Romania
Florinela Georgescu, ANM’s director of prognosis, confirmed that temperatures would stay well above the usual averages for this time of year. She stated that from Wednesday, temperatures exceeding 25 degrees Celsius would become more frequent, potentially reaching 27-28 degrees on Thursday and Friday in the south. Generally, maximum temperatures are expected to range between 19 and 26 degrees. Nights will also be less cold in depressionary areas, with minimums between 4 and 12 degrees as atmospheric pressure gradually decreases.
Rainfall and Cooler Conditions Expected
While the weather is generally expected to be fine with a low probability of precipitation until Friday, a change is on the horizon. Rain could begin in the western parts of Romania from Friday, extending across all regions on Saturday and Sunday. However, this period of precipitation is anticipated to be short-lived, potentially followed by another spell of fair weather and rising temperatures, according to Digi24. A more significant cooling, accompanied by more widespread precipitation, is indicated for after October 15.
Longer-Term Outlook to Early November
The ANM’s longer-range forecast, covering October 5 to November 2, suggests that temperatures will consistently stay above seasonal norms across Romania. During the first week (October 5-12), the most significant positive temperature deviations are predicted for mountainous areas and the north-east. Precipitation during this initial period is expected to be below average in most areas, with the exception of the north-west, where amounts should be closer to normal. Goldring.ro reports that while the deviations from climatological averages will diminish after the first week, temperatures are generally expected to remain slightly above normal until November 2. For the subsequent weeks until early November, average temperatures are forecasted to be slightly higher than normal nationwide, with precipitation levels generally close to average across all regions. These are general trends and not day-to-day exact predictions.
